NJEA has again enlisted the services of ACCENT on Children’s Arrangements to offer NJEA members attending the Convention low-cost child care. The cost is $20 per child, per day. Sign in to njea.org to register.

Convention App

Smartphone users will be able to “let their fingers do the walking” at this year’s NJEA Convention with an application designed to run on iPhones, Android-based phones, and Blackberrys. Learn more

Back by popular demand, Dr. Marcia L. Tate will speak on brain-based learning. Tate is founder of Developing Minds Inc., an international educational consulting firm. The former executive director of professional development for the DeKalb County School System in Decatur, Georgia, also worked as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, language arts coordinator and is the author of numerous books, including the best-seller Worksheets Don’t Grow Dendrites: 20 Instructional Strategies that Engage the Brain.

Chris Lehmann is the founding principal of the Science Leadership Academy, a progressive science and technology high school in Philadelphia. The Science Leadership Academy is an inquiry-driven, project-based, 1:1 laptop school that is considered to be one of the pioneers of the School 2.0 movement nationally and internationally. In June 2010, the former English teacher and basketball coach was named as one of the “30 Most Influential People in EdTech” by Technology & Learning Magazine.
